NAMIC board chair and CEO of Merchants Mutual, Bob Zak, described Alldredge as “the absolute right choice at the right time to lead the association into the future.” He said: “With his extensive knowledge of the organization, deep advocacy experience, and strong relationship with its membership, there is great confidence in his prospective leadership of NAMIC as its president and CEO. We believe Neil’s strategic thinking, management abilities, and vision for how the association should evolve in these challenging times will allow NAMIC to continue to grow and thrive.”
Prior to taking over corporate affairs in 2017, Alldredge led NAMIC’s state legislative, regulatory, and international advocacy efforts for 17 years. During that time, he represented the association’s members at the National Association of the Insurance Commissioners, the National Conference of Insurance Legislators, and the International Association of Insurance Supervisors, and he regularly testified in legislatures around the country.
“Neil’s deep understanding of insurance issues at all levels combined with his knowledge of the association make him uniquely qualified to lead NAMIC,” Zak added. “I am confident that under his leadership the membership will be in good hands and, along with the rest of the NAMIC board, I look forward to working with Neil.”
Alldredge thanked Chamness for being “both a friend and mentor” and said he can’t wait to build on the outgoing leader’s success. He wished Chamness “all the best in his well-deserved, though somewhat delayed, retirement,” alluding to the fact that the CEO of 18 years delayed his departure by one year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“NAMIC is a terrific organization, filled with talented people who serve a noble industry, and it is the honor of a lifetime to have the opportunity to lead this organization,” he said. “My vision is to play to our strength, innovate, and serve the interests of the mutual property/casualty insurance industry. I truly can’t wait to get started.”
