Mt. Logan Re makes two key appointments

Mt. Logan Re, Everest Re Group’s third-party capital unit, has announced the appointment of Greg McBride to the newly created position of global head of marketing and business development and Clint Graham to the role of chief underwriting officer. Mt. Logan Re also announced the retirement of David Whiting, who joined the company in 2013 and has served as its chief underwriting officer, board member and former president.

In his new role, McBride will be responsible for the expansion of the Mt. Logan investor base with asset managers, pensions, sovereign wealth funds and endowments across the globe. Prior to joining the company, McBride held senior positions at Markel Corporation and JLT Re, where he led insurance-linked securities and domestic reinsurance programs.

“We are thrilled to welcome Greg and the caliber of experience he brings to Mt. Logan,” said John Modin, president of Mt. Logan Re. “With more than two decades of deep industry experience across reinsurance, ILS and capital markets, Greg’s background and expertise position him well to expand our growing investor base. Greg will be key to increasing our property and catastrophe business and in developing new, low-correlation investment products to drive sustained growth and profitability.”

In his new role, Graham will be responsible for managing the risk share between Everest’s reinsurance business and Mt. Logan investors. Graham joined Mt. Logan last year as head of property underwriting and analytics. Prior to joining the company, he served in a variety of underwriting, catastrophe modeling, and broking capacities at companies including Willis Re, Arch Re, and Nephila Capital.

“I am also excited to name Clint Graham as our new chief underwriting officer, subject to government and regulatory approvals,” Modin said. “Clint brings a wealth of experience in the property catastrophe reinsurance and capital markets convergence spaces. With strong analytical skills and risk management acumen, I am confident Clint will successfully advance the underwriting discipline and leadership that David Whiting has brought to Mt. Logan since the company’s inception nine years ago.

“We want to thank David, who is retiring after serving in several leadership roles at Mt. Logan. He has had a long and successful career at the company, and we wish him all the best in his retirement.”
